About Us
In March 1987, the previous members of Rocheway Evangelical Church stepped out into a new venture of being a new church with no denominational ties or obligations. Meeting for the first year or so in the Day Centre in Back Lane in Rochford, the church knew immediate growth from the twenty or so adults who had formed the previous small church. As numbers grew, Rochford Community Church, as it now was, moved into the Pullman Suite of the Freight House. As numbers grew again, the church moved into the Great Eastern Room of the Freight House and today makes use of most of the rooms of the Freight House every Sunday morning.
As a church in the evangelical-charismatic tradition, it has served hundreds of people in the years since its inception. Recognising its calling to the local community, a number of years ago it started focusing more on serving that community and has regularly provided facilities for families throughout the week and is very family orientated in its Sunday morning services. Early in its life as Rochford Community Church the leaders formulated a mission statement that declares that it will always be a growing community of God’s people who are “loving, accepting and caring” and this characteristic has been predominant for many years as it seeks to create a family atmosphere that welcomes all who come.
